From seed to sale: full-lifecycle tracking for a horticulture platform
A documented Rails API powering an Angular admin and React Native apps that trace every plant from seed to sale.
The challenge
Running a horticulture business from concept to storefront means knowing the full story of every plant—how long it grew, what substrate, fertilizer, and nutrients it received, and where it lived at each stage. That history has to be captured as plants move through the operation, not reconstructed after the fact.
What we built
We built SeedStory v1 from concept to a functioning e-commerce application. A well-documented Rails API-only back end models each plant's life cycle—grow time, substrate, fertilizer, and other nutrients—and records its location historically as it moves between inventory, greenhouse, field, and harvest, so the entire timeline is preserved. An Angular application handles admin and grow management, and a React Native iOS and Android app (built with a contractor team in Ukraine) serves the customer-facing storefront.
The outcome
SeedStory shipped a working v1: a single documented API behind an Angular admin and native mobile apps, with every plant traceable across its full journey from seed to a grown plant ready to sell.
